About Us
From Myanmar, With Heart
Handmade slowly. Treasured everywhere.
I grew up in Myanmar, surrounded by things made by hand. Rattan baskets woven so tightly you could feel the patience in the weave. Lacquer bowls painted with dizzying detail. Heritage textiles woven by women who learned the craft from their mothers, who learned from theirs.
Growing up, this was just everyday life. I didn’t realize how extraordinary it was until I left.
"In a world full of mass-produced everything, things made slowly and on purpose matter."
The Meaning of Home
When I moved to Australia, the absence of those textures hit me. I deeply missed the quiet dedication of people who create breathtaking beauty with nothing but raw materials, their hands, and ancestral skill.
These artisans deserve to be seen and celebrated far beyond the local markets of Myanmar.
Our Philosophy
I started Rattan & Heart because in a world of immediate, mass-produced objects, the intentional matters.
When you place one of our pieces in your home, I want you to feel what I feel: that this is real. It was made slowly, on purpose, by someone who cared deeply about the straw, the split, and the shape.
Every single piece is chosen with my heart to make your space warmer, your life richer, and a faraway artisan finally visible to the world.
